Leaving today!

Checking out from the hotel, went to see dads old secondary school - Island School. We walked - bit complicated, but managed to find it.

Then went down hill and came across dads old primary school! 

I was really pleased to find Hong Kong Park just opposite the old primary school. Personally I found it better than bontanical gardens as you can go inside and see the birds without cages around them. (It was a lot cleaner too - and free which was a bonus) amazing trees and birds

You could get really up close to the birds - used to people walking around.

I then took the tram in Hong Kong Central for the very first time!

Went to a few more places like the main HSBC building and couple more markets. Plane tonight departs at 11pm Hong Kong time and arrives aprox. in the U.K. 4am. 

An amazing trip and such an experience trying out new foods, different culture and amazing places I've seen. I'll be uploading a few more photos of my drawings and a link to further photos of my trip via a public link from Facebook. I hope you enjoyed reading my time in Hong Kong and will be posting soon!

13th April

Today I went to Cheung chau island 

Took the ferry, quite a way from Hong Kong took apro.x 1 hour to get there - but the view was fantastic

Also bought a souvenir. Dried fish - tried some not keen but still an experience.

 

Some nice unspoiled temples too 

Lion dances too

Beautiful beaches too

The ferry back - had a lovely sunset.

Then back to the hotel for a quick swim!

That's pretty much it guys as tomorrow I will be flying back and a hefty 12 hour flight back to the U.K with a further -7 hour difference when I return. Hope you liked my blog guys. I will be posting a few more including an extra link for drawings when they are fully finished.

12th April - cultural sight seeing and night time photography

So today I ventured off by myself for the first time to take a look at the art museums, sight seeing etc

Got the MTR to Tsim Sga Tsui - Hong Kong museum of art. So cheap to get in plus student card was a bonus you get a further discount. Very cheap day out! It included private exhibitions too. This one however didn't have student discount but still damn cheap! ($20 HKD which is aprox £1.50 in GBP)

Got a ton of guides and information booklets. But there was one that stood out to me. Which was this:

You had to find a photograph which you stuck in with tabs already in the booklet, then a seal which you can stamp in the designated space or anywhere (even stamped my own sketchbook)

After the art museum I had a quick look at the avenue of stars. Bit of an anti climax but saw the statue of Bruce lee

Then I finally went to the hk museum of history which was very time consuming but incredible. You really got a sense of the history from the past 150 years to recent. It had a good chunk before the British colony but the opium war, world war 2 to the handover in 1997 I found personally a lot more interesting. Unfortunately most photos were taken using my SLR. But here's some I took on my phone:

There was also a temporary exhibition of photographs taken during the time Hong Kong was a British colony. Quite early on late 19th century.

This is mid levels around 1888 - the development from now it staggering (I'm staying in the area around mid levels) so seeing what it is now to then is unbelievable.

From prehistorical Hong Kong when it was rules by dinosaurs etc.

The most interesting stuff were the documentation of the take over in 1997.

Being British and being alive around that important part in history (okay I was only 5) was quite an emotional experience. 

I quickly went to see avenue of comic stars which was cool. Unfortunately dragon ball z wasn't there as it's Japanese. (Damn it) 

Afterwards I did some night time photography and the night market again at temple street. Saw the light show at the IFC (the building you see there is the ice at Kowloon opposite Hong Kong)

Bought a few more things not to forget to haggle! 

11th April

Today we went to ocean park! Wonderful place! Unfortunately I didn't get to see all of it but saw the main attractions.

Couple of souvenirs, then had a lovely chinese 

So much to eat! Couldn't finish my plate (nearly did) and went off for a drink really high up this building 

I mean high

34 floors high, even the helicopter was lower than me.

But this drink wow. It's called Mr Jack. What a drink.

That's it for tonight folks. Tomorrow's gonna be night time photography and a spot of art gallery sight seeing - with some drawing fingers crossed. 

10th April

Went for a peaceful swim for half an hour then off too the Peak District to take some photos. Fantastic view - got the Peak District tram up to the top

Spent most of the day there. Then went to bontanical gardens. (Photos will be up later as most of my photos were taken on my slr)

Tune in for tomorrow - may be going to ocean park and doing some night time photography 

9th April - Big Buddha etc

Big day today, went to see the big Buddha. Pretty impressive 

Absolutely huge, completed in 1999. As a plus it was a gorgeous day, first day of proper sunshine which was lovely. We also took the option of the crystal cable car so we could see trough the floor.

The views were fantastic.

Managed to do a bit of drawing aswell!

Just a few highlights. When I come back to the uk there will be further photos uploaded.

Tomorrow will be Peak District. And further sunshine!
